Lay Zhang: This Path Of Light is our Story

This is the story of Lay Zhang and Converse’s first collaboration together, inspired by the authentic dance experiences during Lay’s early career training.

Converse has teamed up with musician Zhang on his favourite Chuck 70’s silhouette, with a design inspired by Lay’s determination for dreams, and passion for music.

As a dancer, singer and producer, Lay Zhang has diverse talents, he follows his heart to turn his dreams into reality.

Lay Zhang’s talents stretch across multiple dimensions, fueled by his determination to pursue his dreams. From every musical note to every dance move, Lay’s creative direction is set on making a self-satisfied work. Lay portrays the initial unbreakable relationship with Converse since the early stages of his career, and the story of how the Converse Chuck Taylor accompanied him through the most important stages of his life.

His first Converse collaboration includes a white high-top and black OX Chuck 70’s, with the design inspired by his authentic training experiences in the dance studio. The small pocket on the side of the shoe is a nod to his practice of tying sandbags to his feet, and the glow-in-the-dark sole symbolizes his perseverance in practicing each dance step in the dark dance studio alone.

“I want to see my steps in the dark; the light from the soles will encourage me to keep practicing and keep on dancing”. This is the true story of Converse and Lay Zhang.

The Converse X Lay Zhang collection will be available for purchase on Wednesday 18 December at 10:00am on Converse.com.au as well as at Converse Chadstone and Emporium.
