Samuel Beatty x Minus18

Converse has teamed up with Trans-gender artist and Sydney All Star member Samuel Beatty on a custom pair of Chuck 70's that celebrate the fluidity and exploration of gender identity and sexuality.

The custom shoe is a celebration of Samuel's personal journey and was inspired after a round table discussion with fellow Converse All Stars and Minus 18, on the importance of allyship and their own experiences as queer youth.

Samuel's body of work explores the experiences of being transgender and providing positive trans represenation through graphic narratives. The shoe itself features two custom patches, speaking to the importance of allowing yourself space to grow as a queer person, and acknowledging the support of the queer community along your journey to self acceptance.

When asked what people can do to be active allies with the community, Samuel says "being an ally goes far beyond acceptance, it's about holding space for everyone around you. Wholeheartedly listening and showing up for the LGBTQIA+ people in your life."

Converse have once again proudly partnered with LGBTQIA+ organisation Minus18, and will be donating $50 from every pair sold to support their life affirming work for LGBTQIA+ youth around Australia. As part of Converse's ongoing commitment, and in celebration of their May Pride range and Samuel's shoe, they will be pledging $20,000 to the charity.
