In October, Converse, Warner Bros Consumer Products and DC, brought to life the Converse x Batman capsule collection that captures the nostalgia of the original comic book hero and celebrated his 80-year legacy.
Now, streetwear brand Chinatown Market is adding their quintessential design aesthetic to two Chuck 70 silhouettes, the designer’s choice canvas for self-expression, within the collection. As a streetwear boutique known for implementing interactive upgrades to icons, brand founder Mike Cherman was inspired to reinterpret vintage DC artwork, while also conceptualizing elements that encouraged wearer creativity.
The first high-top Chuck 70 pays homage to the fast-paced movements of Batman in battle across Gotham, featuring printed comic vignettes in puff and 3-dimensional screen prints.
The second silhouette hosts the bat signal over Gotham redrawn by Chinatown Market in classic Batman colorways. And, with subtle discovery, glow-in-the-dark elements on both the canvas and sockliner, the power of the bat signal and windows of Gotham light up the canvas.
