Hitting our shores in the coming weeks is the Calligraffiti Upside Down Tour, supported by Converse. Niels Shoe Meulman (NSM) is the Dutch artist behind it all, earning his stripes in the global graffiti scene in the 80’s through his pioneering style. His book, Calligraffiti, the Graphic Art of Niels Shoe Meulman is a showcase of this unique style of writing which combines masterful calligraphy skills with the speed and attitude of graffiti.

The Calligraffiti Upside Down Tour includes exhibitions, book signings, live mural painting and lectures, kicking off in Sydney and continuing in Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore. Rather than ship artwork from abroad, NSM will make site-specific art in each city.

Want to star in our next ad campaign? We're photographing hundreds of Melbourne youth for our ad campaign to celebrate the opening of our first ever Australian Flagship store, and connecting them in a chain by one common thread - their Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers.

It's open to everyone, and you don't need to wear your Chucks to get involved. Just rock up and get straight into it, or you can get creative with what you wear or bring with you.

WE HAVE GIVEAWAYS, LOT'S OF GIVEAWAYS!
+ Grab bags for the first 100 photographed each day,
+ Melbourne Store exclusive product pack for the photos selected to be a part of the final campaign,
+ Not enough? Ok, so we've filled a Skill Tester Claw Machine with Chucks, and it's free for participants to use on the day too. Serious. Come grab a pair.

HOW YOU CAN STAR IN THE CAMPAIGN
To make history standing alongside the icons who've defined the Converse brand since 1908, RSVP by clicking "ATTENDING" on the Facebook event page here and drop in to Shot Tower Square, Melbourne Central on either of these days to work on your snaps with our photography team:

+ Friday 7th October 12pm - 8pm
+ Saturday 8th October 10am - 6pm

(If you're under 18, please bring your parent or guardian along to give the thumbs up)

Returning to Huntington Beach, California this Friday, August 5 is the Converse Coastal Carnage, a pro/am skate competition. Consisting of 40 premier skateboarders, it takes place against the backdrop of the Nike US Open of Surfing - the world's largest youth culture and action sports festival. In its third year running as the skate component to the event, Converse Coastal Carnage is free for spectators and will run over the weekend, ending Sunday, August 7.

Converse Coastal Carnage consists of 10 qualifying rounds with four riders skating against each other at the same time. As an invite-only event, it combines experienced professionals like Converse Skate Ambassadors Rune Glifberg and Sammy Baca competing against a wave of fresh new talent. Up-and-comer Converse Skate Ambassador Tom Remillard returns this year with a vengeance for top prize. Placing second last year, Remillard is among one of the many young up-and-comers giving the veteran riders like Glifberg a run for their money. Also making an appearance this year is one of Converse's premier riders, Kenny Anderson who has just recently launched his first signature shoe, the Converse KA-ONE.

"Now in its third year, Converse Coastal Carnage continues to gain momentum. It's awesome to see skate legends and new talent competing so intensely side by side, and the beach setting creates a real electric atmosphere for the guys," said Geoff Cottrill, Chief Marketing Officer of Converse. "We're looking forward to putting on a great show for the crowd this year"
